Our story
Four decades of engineering discipline on the factory floor
In 1986, Akhtar Ali Khan founded A.S. Engineering Works with a focused goal: to build dependable food processing machinery for Indian snack makers. What began as a small fabrication workshop has grown into a specialist manufacturer of snack, soya, and pasta processing plants.
Under his leadership, the company has delivered over 1000 plants to customers across India and overseas. Each line is engineered around the buyer's raw material, target capacity, local power conditions, and available floor space, instead of being assembled from a fixed kit.
That approach has remained constant since the first machine: fabricate in-house, test under real load, and stand behind every installation with commissioning support and operator training.
We fabricate in-house and test every gearbox under load, because a plant is only as good as the hour it runs on your factory floor.
How we build
From plant layout to factory dry-run
Requirement & layout
We start with your snack, capacity, power supply, and floor height, then draw a plant layout that fits your factory rather than a catalogue default.
Fabrication & machining
Channel frames, barrels, hoppers, and dies are fabricated and finished in-house, so tolerances and material grades stay under our own control.
Assembly & wiring
Gearboxes are aligned, heaters insulated, and control panels wired with Schneider, Delta, or Siemens components and proper overload protection.
Load test & dispatch
Every drive and heating zone is run under load before the line leaves the workshop, and ingredient trials can be arranged on request.
Engineering standards
Built for continuous plant duty
Snack plants run long shifts. These four standards guide how our extruders, dryers, fryers, and seasoning systems are specified and built.
Material integrity
Food-grade SS304 / SS316 on every hopper, barrel, chute, and seasoning drum, with no mixed grades on food-contact surfaces.
Precision machining
Barrels, cutters, and dies are finished to tight tolerances so extrusion output stays consistent under continuous load.
Heavy transmissions
Oversized helical gearboxes with oil recirculation, sized for the axial thrust of high-protein and high-moisture processing.
Thermal control
Multi-zone PID heating with thick insulation on barrels and roasters, for stable heat and lower power waste on long shifts.

One workshop. Fabrication to trial run.
